Hi Karis! I need to figure out your last name so I can put it on my post. I wanted to comment on this because I also read The Known World. But can I tell you what happened to my copy? First of all, I read it in the Philippines, where I stayed for 5 weeks and was constipated the entire time. I did not have magazines/newspapers with me, only The Known World. Hence, it became my bathroom reading during the many long hours where... well nothing in particular happened. But the bathrooms there were even more low-tech than ours at our house, and veryvery small, so lets just say the balancing act, with a thick book like that, was kind of tricky. I dropped it on the wet floor, in the water basin, and used it to kill cockroaches. It was also a good read.
